To assist with policy development, the Office of Education and the Office of Clinical Administration invite UFCD faculty to attend this forum to discuss issues of social media, intellectual property, fair use and privacy when instruction includes patient case-based examples.

Chemical Senses Seminar: The brain’s logic for encoding olfactory memories

October 13, 2011, 12:00 p.m., DeWeese Auditorium, Rm LG-101, McKnight Brain Institute

Speaker: Dr. Ronald L. Davis, Head of the Department of Neuroscience, The Scripps Research Institute, Jupiter, Fla.

Dr. Davis will discuss the use of functional cellular imaging of the Drosophila olfactory nervous system before and after learning. This approach has identified six different memory traces that, together, provide a glimpse of the logic by which the brain encodes and stores different temporal forms of memory. His talk showcases the powerful link between olfaction and memory.

Introduction to Clinical/Translational Research: An Introductory Course for Clinical Investigators (GMS 7093)

July 13–27, 2011, 2:00–5:00 p.m., Shands Room 6120 (Auditorium)

We are pleased to announce the 2011 Introduction to Clinical/Translational Research Course offered by the UF Clinical and Translational Science Institute to all Health Science Center junior faculty, fellows and others interested in patient-oriented research careers.

Now in its sixteenth year, the course is designed to be a highly interactive series of 11 sessions led by leading faculty in the Health Science Center and will include basic elements of study design, database design and management, health center resources, regulatory issues, and biostatistical considerations The course will also include practical, interactive small group sessions to develop an interdisciplinary protocol. We ask that clinical fellows who attend this course be relieved of all clinical duties during each three-hour session.
