UF Health Team-Based Learning Workshops
Team-Based Learning (TBL) is a structured small group active learning method that motivates students through a readiness assurance process to come to class prepared, teaches team skills via experience, and most importantly focuses classroom time on higher order skills such as problem-solving and decision-making. This series of workshops will provide an introduction to implementing TBL followed by advanced workshops focused on key elements of TBL, including writing good readiness assurance test questions, designing effective application exercises, facilitation skills, and peer evaluation strategies.
During the Fall 2015 semester, the Team-Based Learning Collaborative will be offering TBL workshops on Friday afternoons.

Faculty Enhancement Opportunity Award Applications
A new round of FEOs has been announced by the Provost. The College of Dentistry has been very successful in the past and several of our faculty have applied and received an FEO. These have become more popular campus-wide and therefore more competitive since the pool of money available has remained constant.
As a rule of thumb, current FEOs are usually funded in the range of 10-20K and require some College funding which is often satisfied by salary support during the period funded by the FEO.
The current announcement is for the period of July 1 to Dec 31, 2014 with an application due date of March 3, 2014. The application form for this period should be available soon.
To be successful, the application must have a detailed plan as to how the FEO will benefit the applicant, the college, and the university. The budget must be in detail and carefully justified. This FEO opportunity is open to all full-time faculty regardless of clinical or tenure track. The FEOs are to support creative and flexible faculty development activities, including, but not limited to: educational experiences/conferences, work with consultants/experts, time devoted to intensive writing or creative work or activities in support of a new direction for one’s scholarly work.
